Para Sport Needs A Home

Building a Future for Inclusive Sport

Para-sport participation in Western Australia has declined over the past two decades. While mainstream National Sporting Organisations (NSOs) have enhanced elite pathways, grassroots programs have suffered from underfunding, limited accessibility, and lack of visibility. As a result, many aspiring athletes with physical disabilities struggle to find opportunities to engage in sport.

At Rebound WA, we believe in breaking barriers and creating opportunities for all athletes. Grassroots participation is key to fostering future Paralympians while also promoting lifelong health, social connections, and community engagement.

The Challenge

  • Limited Access: Inadequate facilities and infrastructure make it difficult for para-athletes to train and compete.

  • Financial Barriers: Specialized equipment and venue hire costs deter participation.

  • Lack of Community Connection: Many para-sports lack a central hub, making it harder to build networks and support systems.

  • Declining Elite Performance: Australia’s recent Paralympic results were the worst since 1988, highlighting the urgent need for a structured development pathway.

A Game-Changing Solution: The WA Para Sport Clubhouse

To address these challenges, we propose a dedicated, accessible para-sport clubhouse—a centralised facility designed to support athletes at all levels. This state-of-the-art hub will:
✅ Provide tailored infrastructure with multi-sport courts and accessible amenities.
✅ Offer storage and maintenance space for specialised sports equipment.
✅ Create a community hub where athletes, families, and coaches can connect.
Bridge the gap between grassroots participation and elite performance.

Key Features

🏀 Multi-sport courts designed for wheelchair sports and other para-sports.
🚻 Fully accessible changerooms, toilets, and shower facilities.
